HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Being born, raised and educated here in Georgia gives me a deep appreciation for Georgia’s rich history. I plan to take a pro-active approach to preserving our state’s history by partnering with state and local preservation societies to ensure that our most fragile documents and artifacts are being properly taken care of and that we are continually identifying and preserving all things of historic value.

I will work to modernize the Georgia Archives website to make all of Georgia’s historical documents and pictures accessible via the web. I will work with private and public educational institutions and museums to promote the scholarly research and display of Georgia’s rich history.

As Secretary of State, I will improve our awareness of Georgia’s history and do all that is necessary to preserve that history.
