SHYAM REDDY CONTESTING FOR GEORGIA’S
SECRETARY OF STATE

India Tribune - Shyam Reddy corporate attorney, a second generation Indian American and a new brand southern Democrat, announced his candidacy for Georgia Secretary of State. Shyam Reddy, eldest son of Indian immigrant parents, was born, raised and educated in Georgia. Shyam Reddy enters the race with a fiscally conservative, socially responsible upbringing that fostered in him a duty to be in public service. As a first generation American and Georgian, born of immigrants, Reddy was taught from a very young age how fortunate he was to be living the American Dream and the importance of serving his community, state and country. Given that upbringing, Reddy is committed to being a public servant working for all Georgians.
A 1992 graduate of the Dublin, Georgia public school system, Reddy received his B.A. in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University. Also graduated from the University of Georgia Law School. Reddy began his career as a corporate attorney in the Atlanta office of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, an international law firm with a history going back over 130 years. Representing Fortune 500 companies as well as small and medium-size businesses, Reddy knows the value of hard work and what it takes to be successful in both the business and legal arenas. With that experience, Reddy knows the Secretary of State’s Office and the significant role it plays in the lives of Georgians. Reddy told India Tribune that he would be running for Secretary of State because he would care about:
• Fostering a business-friendly environment that will make Georgia one of the most desirable states to form, maintain and grow a business;
• Making sure everyone’s vote gets counted and increasing voter participation;
• Preventing investment fraud and working with law enforcement in going after those who prey upon our grandparents, children, mothers and fathers;
• Providing excellent service to Georgian’s licensed professionals;
• Promoting the public health and safety of Georgia’s citizens by overseeing licensed professionals in an effective and efficient manner; and
• Preserving Georgia’s rich cultural history.
Reddy is well known for his leadership qualities right from his school days. He serves on the Board of The Indus Entrepreneurs, a group dedicated to helping and mentoring local entrepreneurs, and the Board of the Red Clay Democrats, an organization dedicated to energizing Georgia’s next generation of Democrats. Reddy is also an active member of the Technology Association of Georgia, The Georgia Bar and the Indus Bar and part of the 2005 L.E.A.D. Atlanta Class of Leadership Atlanta.
As the fiscally conservative, socially responsible candidate fro Secretary of State, Reddy will be ushering in Georgia’s next generation of leadership. Reddy wants to build upon the success of Cathy Cox, present Secretary of State, taking Georgia to the next level of achievement in Election Reform, Business Formation, and Investor protection. He will draw upon his corporate and political experience in fulfilling his obligations as Secretary of State and work tirelessly for the good people of Georgia.
