Atlanta Business Chronicle Names Shyam Reddy As One Of Atlanta's Top 40 Under 40 Promising Young Stars
Oct. 28, 2005 -
When he is not delving into corporate law for Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, Shyam Reddy’s two passions are mentoring young entrepreneurs and guiding young professionals into politics and civil service.
His best work in the community, however, is yet to come.
The 30-year old Reddy is running for Secretary of State and, if he gets elected, he wants to take aim at scammers and investment fraud professionals who populate the Internet and the phone lines. He wants to give back to the community by getting its money back from the thieves.
“These cold-calling and get rich-quick schemes take advantage of a lot of people,” Reddy said.
If there are other politicians out there with the same goals as Reddy, that’s because he has helped train some of them. He co-founded Red Clay Democrats in 2001, and the group has more than 1,000 members.
Reddy not only plants a seed for young politicians, he also helps grow young entrepreneurs. He is on the executive committee and board of directors for the local chapter of TIE, The Indus Entrepreneurs.
His training for that role is all grassroots. His mother and father worked as farmers in India while going to school. His mother became a doctor, his father an engineer. And, like his parents, Reddy makes things happen.
“Within a few weeks of his joining us straight from law school, Shyam was not only quickly getting up to speed on complicated legal matters, but he was also single handedly driving the complete redesign of our recruiting Web site, making it more appealing to his generation of young lawyers,” said Ben Barkley, the corporate chairman at Kilpatrick Stockton.
