SHYAM REDDY ANNOUNCES MASSIVE 2005 FUNDRAISING SUCCESS IN HIS BID TO BECOME GEORGIA’S NEXT SECRETARY OF STATE

The Weekly – Shyam Reddy today announced impressive fundraising numbers in his latest campaign finance disclosure, making him the candidate to beat in this year’s race for Secretary of State. Far outstripping all other Democratic candidates’ efforts, Reddy reported more than $197,000 in new contributions from more than 500 donors, giving him approximately $350,000 in financial support for 2005 and an impressive campaign warchest of over $290,000, which represents the largest amount of net cash on hand for all candidates, including the seasoned and currently serving politicians on the Republican side of the race.
“I’ve been humbled by all the support I’ve received,” said Reddy. “I believe it shows that Georgians are ready for a new brand of Southern Democrat with the right experience, rather than political experience, serving them as their next Secretary of State. These tremendous fundraising totals set my campaign up for a tremendous year as I take my message of opportunity and empowerment to more and more people across the state.”
Dublin native Shyam Reddy is in the midst of interviewing before his next employer--the good people of Georgia. The son of Indian immigrants, Reddy has taken his message to Georgians all across the state. As a result, he has drawn support that spans across party lines. Reddy’s contributions also came from a variety of sources: from everyday people who care about his vision for preserving their right to vote to business leaders who understand his commitment to making Georgia the best state to start and grow a business.
As the fiscally conservative, socially responsible candidate for Secretary of State, Reddy will be ushering a new generation of leadership to Georgia’s political landscape—that new brand of Southern Democrat. He wants to build upon the success of Cathy Cox, taking Georgia to the next level of achievement in Election Reform, Business Formation, and Investor Protection. Born in Carrollton and raised in Dublin, Shyam Reddy earned his B.A. and Masters in Public Health from Emory University and his Law Degree from the University of Georgia. Shyam is an attorney with Kilpatrick Stockton and now resides in Atlanta with his wife Renee and hound dog Peaches.
